Question #1 Why Should I Go To A Therapist After An Injury?
Answer: Your physician may order physical therapy if you are injured, disabled or suffering from any type of movement or function disorder. Your therapist will prescribe a goal-oriented program of evaluation, treatment and prevention. As a key member of your dynamic health care team, your therapist will design a program for your specific needs.


Physical Therapy or Athletic Training is commonly used for:

  • Spinal Pathology: Back and neck injuries and post-surgical care.
  • Orthopedics: Fractures, joint replacements, dislocations, soft tissue trauma, total joint replacements and post-operative treatment.
  • Soft Tissue Injuries: Bursitis, tendinitis, capsulitis, hemorrhage, ruptures, etc....
  • Neurological Conditions: Nerve injuries, spinal cord injuries, polio, strokes, nerve inflammations, etc....
  • Arthritis Management
  • Body Mechanics: Scoliosis, posture and preventative health care.
  • Fitness & Wellness Programs
  • Return to Work Programs

Question #2 Does my Insurance Cover Physical Therapy Treatment?
Answer: Most insurance companies cover physical therapy and rehabilitation services, including Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Worker's Compensation, and private insurance companies since it is prescribed treatment by your physician. Back

 

 

Question #3 How do I get started?
Answer: At ProActive Fitness, we have made it very easy for you to get started. When you click on Make an Appointment, you can request an appointment online. Typically, we will contact you within 24 hours of your request.

 

You may also call our office at 678-205-5736. Your call is the first step in getting you back on the road to recovery. Back

 

 

Question #4 What should I bring to my first appointment?
Answer: You should bring picture identification (such as a driver's license), your orders for physical therapy from your physician, your insurance card, and comfortable clothing, such as shorts, in which to exercise. Back

 

 

Question #5 What should I expect on my first visit?
Answer: Upon arrival at our office, you will be asked to fill out some basic paperwork. You will meet your personal athletic trainer or physical therapist who will work closely with you throughout your entire recovery process. The therapist will complete a comprehensive evaluation of your muscles, joints, nerves, tendons, and ligaments including range of motion, strength and functional testing. Based on your physician's diagnosis, our prognosis, and your personal goals, an individual treatment plan will be devised. You will receive treatment on your first visit. Question #6 What is Expected of Me While Going Through Treatment?
Answer: We use the team approach to your treatment and you are the most important member of the team. You will take an active role in your rehabilitation along with your therapist. In order for this approach to be successful, you must communicate with your therapist to ensure that a treatment plan is established to meet your needs and goals.Back

 


Question #7 What Treatment Can I Expect To Receive?
Answer: Some common forms of treatment you could receive involve heat therapy, cold therapy, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, deep tissue massage, joint mobilization, stretching, and massage along with a variety of therapeutic exercise programs. We will customize a program combining the best treatments geared toward your particular injury. The treatment program will vary based on your injury, and will be performed in a private treatment room as well as a gym setting using a variety of athletic and rehabilitation equipment. Question #8 How often will I need to attend physical therapy?
Answer: Most patients are treated two to three times per week as ordered by your physician. The total duration of physical therapy will depend on the severity of your injury. The more committed you are to your recovery by regularly attending your sessions), the more likely you are to recover faster. We try to set up appointment times for you to help make scheduling consistent, and we offer early morning and evening appointments in order to enable you to fit your treatment into your busy schedule. Question #9 How long will each appointment take?
Answer: Each visit is approximately 1 hour to 1/2 in duration. The actual length of each session will depend upon the actual treatments performed and the extent of your injury.Back

 

 

 

Question #10: Is there anything I can do at home to help speed the recovery process along?
Answer: Absolutely. We will customize a home treatment program which will be comprised of advice on how to reduce your pain, exercises and stretches. It is essential that you follow the instructions and perform the home exercises regularly to control your symptoms and speed up recovery.Back

 

 

 

Question #11: Will you communicate with my doctor?
Answer: We are always in close communication with your doctor through frequent progress letters and phone calls. We both share the same goal of helping you recover as quickly as possible. Therefore, we work as a team to ensure that this happens.Back

 

 

 

Question #12: How much will each visit cost me?
Answer: Our office will contact your insurance carrier to obtain a verification of your benefits. Your out-of-pocket expense will vary depending on your insurance policy. Prescribed physical therapy is typically covered by most insurance companies. Depending on your insurance policy, you may or may not have a co-payment for each visit. Most of our patients have between a $10 -$15 co pay per office visit. Back
